WHO'S FRAMING WHO
Arriving in Kanazawa, to the most fabulous train-station!
The building is covered with a glass dome called the ‘Montenashi Dome’. And there's a huge wooden gate, known as the "Tsuzumimon", (meaning "hand drum gate") that welcomes all travellers when they arrive.
Straight away I knew I wanted to capture this arresting structure. But I wasn't alone. People were everywhere, including this one man with his camera.
I waited for him to move out of the way for my photograph, but he was probably waiting for me to do the same. So, I decided to include him as the frame and let him 'win the wait' between us.

RAY OF GOLDEN LIGHT
Dressed up in a kimono I’m really getting the feel of the Japanese culture and traditions visiting Kinkaku-ji, the Temple of the Golden Pavilion.
It’s a beautiful day, the sun is shining and I see how the sun light is coming through the branches next to the temple. I think of how important light is to me in more than one way. Light is bright and helps you see, light is also as in not heavy and light do indeed travel. Fast.
In my photography I see light and I paint light, I travel to capture new destinations, and I travel light both in hand and mind. Ray of Golden Light is a light reminder - remember that when you move elegant on.

BUILDING BEHIND
The Temple of the Golden Pavillion in Kyoto overlooks the lake surrounded by forest. Here it is seen through the branches of one tree.
I love how this Zen Buddhist temple, bathed in sunshine, lights up this iconic image.
The art image is of the new structure, which opened in 1955. Five years before a novice monk burned down the original temple.
Like the new temple, everybody wants to stand out in some way. Not everyone needs to be the center of attention. Instead, it can be enough to be the upright building in the background.
And like the old temple, sometimes we face disaster and destruction. But be resolute and know your life structure can be re-built till once again you return, to shine as that energetic pillar of light you are.

CHERISH CERISE
Kanazawa took me by surprise even if I did not know what to expect. Arriving with the bullet train the night before, I had next day to explore. The amazing castle was the highlight of my visit. I took numerous photos, but when I found these pink flowers, Cherish Cerise, just hit me.
The capture and the way it is taken makes me think of how a distant blurred, beautiful shape can come even more to life surrounded by colors. Cherish Cerise is about joy and appreciation for life. Make sure you surround yourself with the people that wants you well and serves you cherries and cheer you on.

CITY LINES
City Lines is captured on the way up to the beautiful herb garden in Kobe. I arrived for the Kobe beef, but discovered so much more! All by chance I found myself taking the cablel line climbing the steep hillside facing the shore of Kobe. What an amazing view!
Soaring high above the most wonderful herbs and flowersI try once again to see 'my here and now' in a new perspective. The strong cable lines carrying the carts up and down and the city out front and the garden below.
City Lines is about lifelines and how important it is to balance, step up and see how angles, lines and light makes different perspectives in life.

PUT YOUR SUN HAT ON
It’s funny. There are so many things I know, but don’t pay attention to. Like the name and the spices of this beautiful flower I captured in the herb garden in Kobe on my Japan tour. I just saw the most gorgeous coloured and leaf shaped flower.
Later, some how, a friend of mine mentioned the flower by it’s name, echinacea. In Norwegian the herb is called ‘Solhatt’, which translates ‘Sun Hat’, and It looks like a sun hat. And that’s how I titled this image, ‘Put your Sun Hat On’
Echinacea is a very healthy herb. I want this design to remind you of even in your darkest moments you can always choose to put your sun hat on and decide to shine through.
